解離性脳動脈瘤破裂によるくも膜下出血のため先月18日から入院中だったジャニーズ事務所代表取締役社長のジャニー喜多川さんが、9日午後4時47分、87歳で亡くなった。同事務所が書面を通じ発表した。通夜・告別式についてはタレントたちとJr.のみで「家族葬」を行う。後日、「これまでお世話になりました皆様にはお別れいただく機会をご用意する予定にしておりますので、決定次第、ご案内申し上げます」としている。
同事務所によると、ジャニーさんは先月18日の午前11時30分頃自宅で体調の異変を訴え、病院に向かおうとしたところ意識を失い、救急搬送された。搬送後は集中治療室で懸命な救命措置が行われた甲斐あって一般病棟に移り、タレントやJr.たちとの面会を果たすことができたという。
入院中は毎日、さまざまな楽曲の流れる病室で、タレントたちやJr.までがジャニーさんとの思い出を語り合う、微笑ましく、和やかな時間が流れていったそう。仕事の合間を縫ってタレントたちが入れ替わり立ち替わり病室を訪れた。ときに危険な状態に陥ったが、タレントたちが呼びかけ、危機を脱してきた。
タレントたちと過ごすことでジャニーさんの容態が一時的に回復するという奇跡的な出来事が繰り返されたことに、事務所は「改めまして、ジャニーのタレントに対する育ての親としての深い愛情と子供達との絆の強さを感じました」とコメント。そして、最愛の子供達の愛に包まれながら、2019年7月9日午後4時47分、人生の幕を下ろした。
