持永かおりさんは、割れた器や欠けた器を、漆を使って修復する金継ぎ師。金継ぎの魅力は、継いだ部分に施される、美しい金色や銀色の継ぎ目・・・漆を用いて元の形に直すことで、かつて壊れてしまったことを隠すのではなく、それを痕跡・歴史として残し、大切に使い続けたい、という想いも育みます。器を継ぐことで、一度止まったヒトとモノとの時間を動かす、持永さんの思い描く未来とは？
Ms. Kaori Mochinaga is a kintsugi craftsperson, who uses lacquer to repair broken and chipped ceramics. The appeal of kintsugi are the beautiful gold or silver seams where the ceramic is joined… By using lacquer to return it to its original shape, the fact that it had been damaged is not concealed, it is left as a sign of history, fostering the desire for it to continue to be used and cherished. By joining a piece of broken ceramics, Ms. Mochinaga restarts the hands of time for the relationship between a person and an object. What kind of future does she imagine?
