アメリカのトランプ大統領とウクライナのゼレンスキー大統領の首脳会談は報道陣に公開された冒頭で激しい口論となり、物別れに終わりました。
首脳会談はおよそ50分間にわたって報道陣に公開されましたが、トランプ氏とバンス副大統領が声を荒げ、ゼレンスキー氏を批判する異例の展開となりました。

「彼（プーチン氏）は停戦を破った。我々の国民を殺し捕虜も交換しなかった。我々は捕虜交換に署名したが、彼はそれをしなかった。バンス副大統領はどんな『外交』を私に求めているんだ？」

「大統領執務室にやってきて、自分の国の破壊を防ごうとしている政権を攻撃するのは無礼だと思わないのか？」
アメリカ トランプ大統領
「今、あなたはカードを持っていない。カードを持とうとしているが、今は持っていない。あなたは数百万人の命を賭けてギャンブルをやっている。第三次世界大戦を賭けてギャンブルしているんだ。あなたの振る舞いは、この国に対し無礼だ。この国はウクライナに多くの支援をしている。この国は多くの人々が言うよりも、はるかに多くのものをあなたに返している。あなたは全然、感謝していない。正直言おう、全然良いことではない」
口論のきっかけは、ゼレンスキー氏がロシアのプーチン大統領がこれまで停戦合意を破ってきたことを指摘し、トランプ政権の交渉姿勢に懸念を示したことでした。
これにトランプ氏とバンス氏が強く反発。
会談は物別れに終わり、予定されていた鉱物資源をめぐる協定の署名や共同記者会見は行われませんでした。
トランプ氏はSNSに「ゼレンスキー氏は和平の準備ができていないと判断した」「和平を結ぶ準備ができたら戻ってくることができる」と書き込みました。
一方、ゼレンスキー氏は「アメリカに感謝します。今回の訪問に感謝します」などと短く投稿するにとどめました。
ウクライナでの戦闘終結に向けた今後の道筋は不透明感が高まっています。
